Plant Engineer

Summary

The Plant Engineer will perform project engineering and design services for assigned capital projects. In addition, the Plant Engineer will also assist with project implementation and on-site construction management, as well as project management duties including cost reporting and control, and project scheduling.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Develop and prepare general arrangement drawings for internal approval.
  • Work with major vendors to establish major equipment requirements and design criteria.
  • Develop piping and mechanical design drawings.
  • Establish scope of structural modifications and design requirements.
  • Establish scope of electrical requirements.
  • Develop control requirements with operations and E&I technicians.
  • Supervise preparation of detail design drawings for disciplines performed by outside consultants.
  • Develop and issue specifications and design parameters for all equipment and components.
  • Develop and issue construction contract inquiries, specifications, and scope of work documents and assemble design drawings.
  • Develop and submit requisitions for equipment, material and construction contracts.
  • Supervise on-site construction activities and fabrication, including on-site and off-site prefabrication, when assigned on-site construction management.
  • Monitor and update project schedule on a weekly basis.
  • Enforce all safety regulations and ensure safe operating conditions and safe practices. Maintain files of all safety documentation, contractor records, safety orientation, and safety meetings.
  • Other duties as required. 

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS

  • Four-year BS degree in Electrical, Mechanical or similar engineering discipline preferred from an accredited four-year college or university
  • Five (5) years of project work
  • Five (5) years of experience in Electrical power distribution
  • Three (3) years of experience in an industrial environment. Experience in paper mill or converting/printing environment is desirable but not required.
  • Knowledge and training in AutoCAD and 3D modeling software (Solid Works or equivalent).
  • Strong computer skill
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety.
  • Demonstrate ability to lead team and utilize team environment.
  • Strong attention to details.
  • Self-starter.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Proven interpersonal and communication skills.

 

ADDITIONAL NOTES

  • $110k to $130k annual salary
  • Typical Work schedule
  • Dayshift
  • Off shift call-in as needed
  • Pulp and paper nice, but not necessary
  • Open to Nationwide search- relocation assistance provided. This is NOT a remote role.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Able to speak clearly, so that others understand you

  • Able to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer)
  • Able to navigate ladders and stairs in a safe manner
