The Continuous Improvement (CI) Manager position is responsible for directing the development and execution of the lean/ continuous improvement program in a manufacturing, supply chain environment. In this key role, the CI Manager will initiate and deliver sustainable process improvements designed to exceed customer expectations while using lean strategies to drive continuous improvement throughout the organization.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include the following.

• Promote and lead lean/ continuous improvement events - perform appropriate training, event preparation and facilitation, develop and implement a communication plan, conduct post event follow-up and auditing/ measurement of results, assure prompt delivery of required supplies and materials, and mentor team members.
• Engage employees to educate and adopt lean/ continuous improvement principles as you lead the entire team
• Build and maintain the foundation for continuous improvement by ensuring the effective functioning of transformation activities aligned to our Lean Operating System.
• Act as a change agent using Lean-Six Sigma tools to deliver breakthrough improvements in operational quality, cost, and performance.
• Teach Lean tools to all levels of the organization (Kaizen, 5S, TPM, Set-up reduction, Standard Work, Visual Management, SQDC boards, MDI, etc.). Serve as the plant's internal 5S calibration expert.
• Provide managerial and technical expertise for manufacturing processes and continuous improvement projects, and assist in maintaining the quality system.
• Apply statistical methods and perform product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency.
• Work closely with Quality teams to assist in maintaining internal auditing and other requirements of the operation’s quality system.
• Design, develop and test and/or sources and cost-justify various tools, machinery and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods.
• Employ six sigma tools and scientific and statistical expertise to perform root cause and correlation analysis to identify and develop corrective actions for solving product and process failures.
• Identify and manage continuous improvement project resources, requirements, and constraints to ensure that improvement projects meet the specified scope, are on schedule, and within the authorized budget, to ensure key success factors, priorities and fiscal expectations are accomplished.
• Communicate professionally in written, oral and presentation form, project progress regarding formal milestones, issues and benefit realizations to ensure management’s understanding of project status.

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, or 5+ years of related experience required. 
• Lean manufacturing (related) training required, preferably from Shingijutsu or nationally recognized certification body (SME/AME/ASQ/Shingo).
• Minimum of 3+ years of demonstrated qualified lean manufacturing experience in a leadership role preferred.. 
• Solid knowledge and demonstrated understanding of Toyota Productions System and methodologies such as: A3 Development and Management, Process Flow Mapping, Value Stream Mapping, 5S/Visual Factory, TPM, QCO-SMED, Standard Work, Process Problem Solving and root cause analysis (PDCA), Quality at the Source, Just In Time, Kaizen/Continuous Improvement, abnormality management, Hoshin Kanri – SD- X Matrix, project management.
• Extensive use of Gemba based continuous improvement tools/techniques. 
• Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to integrate safety, ergonomics and 5S requirements with lean manufacturing and other business practices. 
• Proficiency with personal computer applications, required (Excel, Word, Visio, MS Project and Power Point). 
• Superior and demonstrated leadership, team building, communication, presentation, interpersonal, and coaching skills and the ability to ensure accountability.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast paced and changing environment with multiple priorities while driving results. 
• Ability to mentor and facilitate lean culture change in an environment with varying acceptance.
