Summary

The Maintenance Planner is responsible for leading, organizing, and executing the planning, scheduling, and coordination of all corrective, preventive and predictive maintenance actions performed within the facility. The planner is responsible for the coordination of parts, materials, and manpower to ensure proper execution of work leading to increased machine availability.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the development and execution of a time-based preventive and predictive maintenance program
  • Builds and maintains computerized lists of recurring preventive/predictive maintenance requirements of all equipment.
  • Leads a cross-functional team in the prioritization of all open corrective work orders
  • Utilizes CMMS to organize and plan the execution of work orders, ordering of spare parts and organizing of inventory
  • Coordinates to ensure all required resources are on site and available to meet scheduled maintenance actions
  • Tracks and publishes equipment maintenance metrics such as equipment status and completion rates for scheduled work orders
  • Works with Maintenance management to document and complete root cause failure analysis (RCFA) activities
  • Creates and implements standard work instructions and one-point lessons within the maintenance department
  • Responsible for operating within policies & procedures and maintaining compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements; including compliance with Occupational Health and Safety procedures and SafeStart practices

Qualifications

 

Education/Experience/Skills

  • Degree from an accredited institution or 5+ years of equivalent experience in forecasting maintenance requirements of operations involving complex machinery (ex: manufacturing, aircraft, etc.)
  • Ability to read, interpret, and integrate maintenance information from technical manuals, spreadsheets, and schedule formats
  • Ability to routinely balance simultaneous tasks, solve and propose solutions to practical problems involving multiple variables, and enforce adherence to continuous planning schedules
  • Must be a self-starter with excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong interpersonal, teambuilding and leadership skills
  • Experience with computerized maintenance work order or ERP scheduling subsystems is strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is strongly preferred
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedural manuals is necessary

  • Improved equipment uptime through highly coordinated and planned work order execution and preventive maintenance
  • Reduced cost of operation as a result of inventory control measures for maintenance spare parts
  • Reduced mean time between failures through RCFA and standard work instruction process improvements

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Warehouse and production environment. The environment may range to various temperatures depending on the time of year. The noise level in the work environment can vary from quiet to loud. Ability to wear protective gear is required at all times on production floor.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, bend, talk, and hear.  The employee is often required to sit at a computer terminal for long periods.  Employee is required to have the ability to lift, push, pull, move, and carry up to 50 pounds. While performing duties of this job, employee is regularly required to use hands, fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, and controls. Specific vision abilities include close and distance vision, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
