Summary

The Maintenance Mechanic will repair and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment by performing the following duties.

 

SHIFT:

Night Shift, 6pm to 6am on Continental Schedule

Responsibilities

Summary of essential job functions and responsibilities:

  • Perform preventive maintenance as scheduled.
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date records of all work done.
  • Work the hours required by the job in keeping all equipment ready for operation at all times, even if a break-down should occur.
  • Maintain physical structure of establishment by keeping work area neat, clean, and safe. This includes the outside of building, the property, and snow removal as needed periodically as weather conditions change.
  • Act as a capable trainer, able to instruct department personnel in proper use and care of equipment and in all phases of the work with a minimum of personal friction of conflict.
  • Keep an inventory of all supplies and materials and sees that replacements are requisitioned in event of a supervisor absence.
  • Possess the ability to read understand, and use mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and other working plan prints used in maintenance.
  • Accurately use different measuring devices including: tape measures, calipers, micrometers, scales, gauges, and meters.
  • Ability to operate all equipment used in maintenance work including: a lathe, drill press, etc. Must be able to do gas welding, brazing, soldering and electric welding.
  • Familiar with Lock Out/Tag Out procedures and follows the guidelines closely.
  • Must be capable of keeping accurate records, including the completion of all required forms; and the accurate use of different measuring devices including tape measures, and all other applicable gauges for your responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferably in the folding carton industry.
  • Must have the ability to read, write, and comprehend documents and verbal instructions in English for Safety, ISO, and work related tasks.  
  • Must have the ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations. 
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, vendors, or employees of organization.
  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. 
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
