    Summary

    As our Sr. Cost Accounting Analyst, you will be charged with the plant financial reporting and cost accounting activities within the company’s ERP system, Epicor AVP. This position has a strong focus in cost accounting, inventory control and production planning capacity. The candidate should have strong experience in manufacturing cost accounting, cost variance reporting, inventory control, scrap reduction efforts and in working with Plant Management in helping to make the facility cost efficient. This role is responsible for the plant financials to include plant analytics, dashboards and plant KPI’s and internal control procedures. Strong ERP and technology experience is required.
     
    This position will play an integral role in providing financial support to drive productivity plant-wide. Responsibilities will include accurate standard cost generation, variance analysis, budgeting/forecasting, general ledger maintenance, and FP&A activities.

    Responsibilities

    • Implement Standard costing in Epicor-AVP and lead the development of accurate standard costs and costing processes.
    • Understand product manufacturing cost flow to evaluate or determine production job costs and variances.
    • Weekly review of production job actual performances vs. standards and trends; a thorough grasp and comprehension of production variances is essential.
    • Enhance visibility to drivers of manufacturing variances to increase productivity and enable better decision making.
    • Determine monthly product profitability utilizing existing reporting procedures as well as ad hoc analytical methods.
    • Take the lead in developing and verifying data relevant to margin analysis, spending controls, cost avoidance, and a variety of financial analysis and special projects.
    • Support site physical inventory audits and cycle count programs. Reconcile all perpetual inventory balances vs. general ledger values at month-end; significant variances are investigated, with adjustments made and/or corrective action taken as required.
    • Participate in setting and revising cost accounting standards for departmental labor usage, material utilization, and manufacturing overhead rates.
    • Conduct research and perform analytical studies regarding manufacturing spending, actual vs. standard direct labor performance, material yields, overhead costs, process improvements, and other analyses.
    • Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closings Including preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, and various reports.
    • Support and assist internal department reporting requirements such as audit schedules, tax schedules and others.
    • Become the Epicor-AVP expert to drive cross-functional continuous process improvement initiatives. Apply lean concepts to cost accounting processes and projects. Serve as an advocate for continuous improvement. 

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration or a related field of study.  Prior experience in a manufacturing facility is a plus.
    • Strong ERP experience, preferably Epicor-AVP.
    • Ability to work within a general ledger, accurately and timely reconcile balance sheet accounts, approve and post journal entries is a must. Basic understanding of GAAP with the ability to support external audit function as necessary.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary, with an ability to resolve and manage internal customer expectation regarding timeliness and accuracy of required information.
    • Must be detail oriented, organized and energetic.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel and Outlook) is a must.
    • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
